Husband's Christmas Gift

When my husband and I started dating, we would write each other notes all the time. We worked opposite schedules so notes were how we communicated for days sometimes. I kept them and realized I had quite I collection. I took a trip down memory lane and read them. I got the thought that these are an awesome keepsake we will talk about years down the road and should keep them preserved.

The idea of the 'Love Notes' box didn't really form until I remembered I had a shadow box I wasn't using. I had plans of making 12x12 pages to put in them but that hadn't happened. So I cut some letters with the Cricut and picked a pretty but delicate backdrop. The only notes I had handy were on post its that Mykel had left around the house for me one day. It is now full, and I mean full! of notes of all colors and shapes. It is messy, but when I look at it I see all the love he wrote to me in those notes. I can't wait to give this to him for Christmas because we will have been apart for a few months and he will appreciate it that much more.

Not the greatest picture quality but this is what it looks like full! I got this all together and realized I still have a stack of notes still from when he was in boot camp. I will have to come up with something else for these because this frame is a bit full!

Hope you like. If you do something like this, I would love to see!

Framed Monogram

This lovely is using paper that I have wanted to use for weeks. Just a simple monogram cut with the Cricut. It's one of those items that will make my house more of a home but I haven't decided if I am going to hang it or display on a shelf. I'll let it speak for itself when the time comes.

Cards!

Cards! I was on Pinterest, as always, and saw quite a few cards I liked so I figured I'd give cards a try. The first is a simple congratulations card that is blank in the middle. The red squares are 1 1/4 inch and the designed paper are 1 inch. The placement of the corners is random.

The paper is Stampin' Up! as well as the 'congrats' stamp.

Below is another simple thank you card that is blank in the middle. Again the paper and stamp is Stampin' Up!

Picture for my Airman

So today I was super crafty and got a handful of little projects done, some planned and others I thought of as I went. This is one of the on the fly projects of the day. I was thinking that I wanted a gift for my husband everyday that I am visiting, which is four days. I have an Ipod that I bought for him and another little project I made. So for the third I decided I would frame a picture of the two of us for his desk at Tech school. I had a wallet size pic of us at our wedding reception, which I used below.

I think it turned out ok, I am not in love with the 'you' and 'me' in black, but I ran out of color options. Either way, he will love it. It's something to remember me by, and something to make his dorm feel more homey.

I used the Cricut to cut the 'you and me.' The background paper is stampin' up. (It may be retired.)

Me and my life, it starts today.

So this blog is for me to catalog my life. From coupon savings to crafts to my wishful thinking, I plan to keep my inspiration, projects and adventures here. I like a lot of things so it may seem random at times, but isn't life like that? My life is in the beginning stages of major transition. To be able to have a constant chronicle of what's up with me will be reassuring for me in times of major change.

Mykel, my husband is in Boot Camp as I write for the US Air Force. He graduates next Friday the 12th. I am flying to see him next Wednesday. We have been apart for over 2 months now and It's been tough. Military has it's own way of life and I am learning as fast as I can. With this life comes living on a base, moving country/world wide, deployment and the honor of being a wife to a serving patriot of our great country. My journey is just beginning and it has been interesting so far, I'm sure there is a lot to be said about my future experiences.

I am also a couponer. I started about 6 months ago when my mom got me into it. I thought ' hey, it's cool to save a little money on the essentials.' Now, I am saving so much I am spending less than $10 a month on household items. It's great because that money goes to other important things like our future family. :)

I also like nail polish, random I know but it was/is a hobby of mine. More so in the past but I still maintain quite a large collection and enjoy doing my own manicures. I blogged about that for a while but I lost focus when we found out my husband was leaving for Boot Camp way ahead of schedule.

This picture was taken by me.

Crafting is another hobby I enjoy. From scrapbooking to card making I like many of the 'paper crafts.' I'm sure I will post projects I am working on for our new home for when my husband gets stationed.

Thats all for now, I feel like this blog is going to be a great way for me to catalog my life and keep track of it, as best I can anyway.
